Two thousand years ago Jesus was a homeless man walking the streets of Jericho with his disciples preaching and teaching to men and woman about the everlasting kingdom of his father. On his way that day he met a certain ruler asked him what shall I do to inherit Eternal Life. Jesus replied to him, go sell all that you have and distribute to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven: and come in follow me. But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. Luke Chapter 18 verses 18-22 and 23.
Brothers, Sisters and Friend, we are living in a world today where hunger, homelessness, jobless and poverty are increasing. People are dying every day for the lack of food, medical assistance. Some are sleeping on the streets because they can afford to pay a rental home, Jobless people are begging for money and food among us. So life on this earth is become implacable.But still we can do something to help others by sharing what we have to help the poor! The rich man asked Jesus for eternal life. But Jesus asked him for a distribution of his wealth to the poor. The condition that Jesus gave to the rich man was very hard for him to accept, he left wordless with pain on his heart. Because he was very rich, perhaps the rich man did not understand the value of Eternal Life: or maybe he wanted to have two treasures at the same time, one in heaven and one on earth. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. The rich man was a very smart guy, because he knew that out of his wealth on earth, there is something more important that he needs, he understood that after this life everything is not finish, but the condition of the eternal life seems rude to him, by thinking of so many years that he was working very hard to have his possession and suddenly he met a man who told him to sell all of them to distribute to the poor. He looked at this guy as a crazy man and left sadly, the rich man did not prepare for this kind of condition. To him the trade was not fair. Distribute all he had to the poor in order to have Eternal Life. This is not only hard but ridiculous. Even through the condition are hard. If you want it, pay the price if not, leave it alone. My brothers and sisters if you want to have a treasure in heaven, start build it on earth today by putting your gifts and your donations into the account of the poor. If you give $ 50 to the poor, your treasure in heaven will value $ 50, if you give $ 2,000.00 it will also value $ 2,000.00 don’t be jealous when you see your neighbor treasure is nicer than yours over there. The Lord will treat everybody fairly, because he is a fair Judge.
